Manitowoc has completed delivery of a large number of new Grove RT540E rough-terrain cranes to Chittagong Port Authority (CPA), marking the Company’s biggest-ever order to Bangladesh. The cranes were sold through local dealer ETL (Essentials Trade Lines) and will help Chittagong Port handle increasing cargo volumes as Bangladesh’s export industry continues to grow.
Chittagong Port is Bangladesh's largest and busiest seaport, handling over 90% of the country’s imports and exports and around 98% of its containerized cargo. The new RT540E cranes are working alongside nine existing Grove cranes – a mix of all-terrain and rough-terrain cranes purchased over the past five years. They handle cargo around the jetty and import/export areas, where their efficiency and reliability ensure operations run smoothly.
“Bangladesh’s garment industry is one of the largest in the world, and Chittagong Port is its lifeblood,” said Muntasir Mostafa, founder and managing director of Essentials Trade Lines. “As the port continues to expand, the demand for reliable, high-performance cranes is growing. These Grove RT540E cranes offer a perfect mix of lifting capacity and durability.”
In addition to their excellent capacity and reach, the RT540E cranes were selected for their ability to deliver dependable performance in high-pressure environments.
“The reliability and quality of the RT540E cranes are important factors for CPA, as the port operates 24/7. Downtime means lost productivity, and the facility cannot afford prolonged holdups. Our customer support at ETL includes OEM parts, maintenance, and service to ensure that productivity and return on investment are maximized for the customer,” added Muntasir Mostafa.
The RT540E offers a 35 t capacity and a 31 m full-power boom inside a compact package. Other features include the Manitowoc Crane Control System (CCS) and an ECO mode for better fuel economy.
