By using a conditioning cabinet, we are able to simulate the anticipated effects of temperature and moisture to ensure the systems work in real-life conditions.

Heat, cold or moisture are often boundary conditions that must not be ignored when designing machine vision solutions. As many machine vision components, especially the cameras, are only designed for a limited temperature range, at temperatures outside of this window there is a danger of poor-quality image data or even a total failure of systems.

To minimise the risk in applications with a corresponding hazard potential, we have expanded our range of services:

In a new conditioning cabinet, it is now possible to set temperatures of -40 °C to +180 °C as well as a variable humidity of up to 100 % in order to test the functionality of components, sub-systems, complete PC systems or even embedded solutions in the required temperature ranges.

Pre-programmed temperature and humidity profiles can automatically be run in this conditioning cabinet in order to simulate the subsequent operating conditions as realistically as possible. In this way, for example, we are able to simulate possible condensation from moisture in protective camera housings and set up and test countermeasures such as heating and/or cooling in a practical manner.

“With this service, we are able to help customers in critical cases to test their machine vision systems before use in approximately realistic operating conditions and in this way guarantee functionality in the specified temperature and humidity range,” explains Carsten Thimm, Team Manager of Vision Systems at STEMMER IMAGING.
