Sulzer’s electrified distillation technology, VoltaSplit, has been selected by Xin’an Momentive for a major organic silicon upgrade project in Jiande, Zhejiang Province, China. VoltaSplit will be integrated at the distillation facility to reduce carbon emissions and energy consumption while maintaining high product quality and operational reliability. The plant is expected to be operational in early 2026.
As a global leader in separation and mixing technologies, Sulzer will provide its distillation expertise and the energy-efficient VoltaSplit solution to support Xin’an Momentive organic silicon production in Jiande. Organic silicons are known to withstand very high temperatures and are highly hydrophobic. They are essential inputs for electrical insulation, sealing and waterproofing applications.
Sulzer’s VoltaSplit technology is designed to integrate with existing infrastructure for significant reductions in energy demand. For the Xin’an Momentive facility, VoltaSplit will enable a +25% reduction in steam consumption while maintaining product purity at the highest standard.
"Our customers are increasingly looking for sustainable solutions without compromising on performance. We are proud to bring our expertise and VoltaSplit technology to support Xin’an Momentive’s drive toward process optimization and more energy-efficient manufacturing," said Tim Schulten, president of Sulzer Chemtech.
This project highlights Xin’an Momentive’s commitment to production efficiency and environmental performance. It also demonstrates how market-leading technology provides an opportunity to meet the growing global demand for silicone-based products.
