PT Pertamina International Shipping (PIS), the integrated marine and logistics subholding of PT Pertamina (Persero), emphasized its role as a catalyst for national marine transformation through its participation and support at Indonesia Maritime Week (IMW) 2025, May 26–28 at the Jakarta International Convention Center (JICC).

The Coordinating Minister of Infrastructure and Regional Development, Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono, emphasized the importance of human resource development as a key driver in enhancing the competitiveness of the national marine industry.

“In recent years, the government has focused on improving the quality and competitiveness of Indonesian seafarers, including through more comprehensive training and internationally standardized certifications,” he stated during his opening remarks.

Meanwhile, at the opening of Indonesia Maritime Week 2025, Secretary-General of the International Maritime Organization (IMO), Arsenio Dominguez, highlighted the importance of enhancing national marine connectivity. “Connectivity and sustainability are the foundations of the global marine industry’s future. Forums like IMW are essential for encouraging cross-border collaboration and innovation,” Dominguez said.

In response to the challenges of improving the Indonesian seafarers' quality, PIS has taken an active role in this first international marine event in Indonesia. The company introduced a series of programs showcasing its strategic role and commitment to developing various aspects of the national marine industry, from strategic business discussions to social campaigns and blood donation drives.

These initiatives reflect PIS's mission to create a marine industry ecosystem that prioritizes not only business strategy but also adaptability, inclusivity, and sustainability.

“Through active participation in this forum, PIS aims to expand strategic collaborations, attract investment, and share best practices to build a resilient and sustainable shipping ecosystem in Asia,” said Acting President Director of PIS, Surya Tri Harto.

One of PIS’s main focuses is introducing cargo diversification initiatives and expanding international shipping routes to more than 65 countries, strengthening its global presence through branch offices in Singapore, Dubai, and London.

In addition, PIS is showcasing its environmentally friendly technology innovations and digital transformation in ship operations at its exhibition booth, aiming to attract domestic and international investors. These strategic collaborations are a key highlight of PIS’s participation in IMW 2025.

“Our participation in Indonesia Maritime Week 2025 is a vital part of this effort, as the forum provides a platform for strategic collaboration, technology exchange, and the promotion of national shipping competitiveness internationally. Through IMW 2025, PIS seeks to demonstrate that Indonesia has the potential to become a global marine axis by emphasizing connectivity, sustainability, and digital transformation,” Surya concluded.
