Pentair and the Pentair Foundation are working on holistic solutions to transform the way safe water is delivered to people as part of the Project Safewater initiative.

PENTAIR HELPS BRING SAFE DRINKING WATER TO INDIA SCHOOLCHILDREN

As part of its Project Safewater initiative, members of Pentair's Global Engineering Center (GEC) in Noida, India recently joined representatives from Safe Water Network to celebrate the opening of a significantly updated water treatment system built with Pentair Foundation support at Primary School, Khora.

In 2016, a Pentair Foundation grant enabled Safe Water Network to install a reverse osmosis (RO) water filtration system at this school, which serves more than 500 children facing water quality challenges. Unfortunately, the system no longer worked properly after being idle during the pandemic and the community was again dealing with health challenges such as diarrhoea. Pentair’s team at the Noida GEC stepped up to offer their expertise, working with Safe Water Network to install a new, efficient six-step RO water filtration system, as well as the infrastructure needed to protect it from the outdoor environment. The team went one step further, increasing the positive impact by installing an integrated plumbing system that reuses the wastewater in the school washrooms, and facilitating hygiene practices that will help reduce waterborne diseases.

Pentair also helped to build awareness about safe drinking water within the community, teaching and encouraging them to maintain the system to sustain it well into the future. The students were given reusable water bottles and encouraged to fill them up before going home to their families each day. The school has also made a commitment to the system’s upkeep and trained three teachers in its operations and maintenance.

Through this partnership over the last decade, Safe Water Network and the Pentair Foundation have brought safe water access to more than 1.3 million people in India in water quality-affected regions. Learn more about Project Safewater.
