Air Liquide Karabatan Tech Gases LLP (ALKTG) has signed a long-term agreement with Silleno LLP for the supply of nitrogen and compressed dry air to its future polyethylene plant in Kazakhstan. The contract represents a 70 million euro investment by the Air Liquide Group through the ALKTG joint venture, supporting an industrial development project aimed at establishing a petrochemical hub in the Karabatan basin in Atyrau.
Technical Scope and Infrastructure Production
Under the agreement, ALKTG will build, own, and operate two high-purity, energy-efficient nitrogen production units. This infrastructure is projected to rank among the largest industrial gas facilities in the Central Asian region. The technical commissioning of these units and initial product deliveries are scheduled to align with the operational timeline of the Silleno production plant, which is targeted for completion at the end of 2028.
Regional Footprint and Industrial Integration
The new production facility will be situated within the National Industrial Petrochemical Technopark (NIPT) Special Economic Zone. The asset is located near ALKTG’s existing air separation unit (ASU), which currently delivers nitrogen to Kazakhstan Petrochemical Industries (KPI).
The Air Liquide Group has operated in Kazakhstan since 2016. Building upon the joint venture’s initial infrastructure investment in the Karabatan basin in 2019, the new facility is designed to expand the organization's regional footprint and optimize operational synergies across the industrial basin.
