Schaeffler Partners with Leju Robotics for Humanoids

Industrial automation, intelligent manufacturing, and advanced human–robot collaboration are driving demand for scalable humanoid robotics. Schaeffler AG has entered into a strategic partnership with Leju Robotics Technology Co., Ltd. to accelerate the transfer of humanoid robot technologies into industrial-scale manufacturing.

This marks Schaeffler’s first cooperation with a Chinese humanoid robotics manufacturer and expands its global partner network alongside existing collaborations in Europe and the USA. The agreement reinforces the company’s position within the global humanoid ecosystem and strengthens its footprint in the Chinese growth market.

The cooperation focuses on deploying humanoid robots in industrial environments, including intelligent factory inspection, equipment operation support, logistics handling, and human–robot collaboration. Schaeffler has announced plans to integrate a mid-four-digit number of humanoid robots into its own production facilities by 2035, indicating a structured roadmap toward industrial adoption.

Combining component expertise and industrialization capability
Schaeffler contributes a broad portfolio of motion and energy management technologies for humanoid platforms. Its eight product families cover rolling bearings, screw drives, precision gears, electric motors, sensors, thermal management systems, and battery management solutions. These technologies address the core subsystems required in humanoid robots, including actuators, sensing, motion control, and energy optimization.

In addition to component supply, Schaeffler brings expertise across twelve core manufacturing technologies, ranging from conventional metalworking to additive manufacturing. This industrial know-how supports the transition from prototype development to repeatable, series-ready production processes.

Leju Robotics contributes research and development capabilities and experience in transferring humanoid robot systems into scalable manufacturing. The partnership is structured to combine application-driven development, operational data collection, iterative model improvement, and next-generation technology advancement.

Strengthening presence in China’s robotics market
China represents one of the most dynamic markets for humanoid robotics, driven by manufacturing transformation, demographic shifts, and automation requirements. By establishing a dedicated humanoid business presence in China and formalizing cooperation with Leju Robotics, Schaeffler aligns its growth strategy with regional market development.
