RTX Expands Singapore Aerospace Capabilities with $139 Million Investment

Aerospace manufacturing, maintenance, repair and overhaul, and high-value engineering continue to concentrate around established regional hubs as aircraft fleets and service demand grow across Asia Pacific. RTX has confirmed a further expansion of its footprint in Singapore through multiple memoranda of understanding signed with the Singapore Economic Development Board.

The agreements, announced at the Singapore Airshow, build on an earlier commitment made in July 2025 and formalize more than $139 million in additional investment. The scope covers advanced aerospace manufacturing, maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO), and engineering activities intended to support future commercial aircraft platforms and rising regional demand.

Strengthening Singapore’s role as an aerospace hub
RTX operates more than a dozen facilities in Singapore, employing over 4,300 people. The new agreements extend a presence spanning five decades and position Singapore as a focal point for next-generation aerospace technologies within the company’s global operations.

According to RTX, the expansion aligns with Singapore’s strategy to maintain a comprehensive aerospace ecosystem, spanning design, production, aftermarket services, and advanced manufacturing. The investment is also intended to support long-term customer needs in the region while creating additional high-value engineering and technical roles.

Collins Aerospace: Regional MRO expansion
Under the agreements, Collins Aerospace will introduce new MRO capabilities in Singapore to address increasing Asia Pacific demand and reduce turnaround times for airline customers. Planned additions include support for electrical power systems, environmental control systems, and airframe control systems.

The expansion also covers Integrated Drive Generators for the Boeing 777X program, alongside new flight-critical components supporting the Boeing 787 fleet. These include controllers for engine starters, cabin air compressors, auxiliary power units, and expanded cooling system capabilities. The new Collins Aerospace MRO capabilities are expected to be fully operational by 2030.

Pratt & Whitney: Engine MRO and manufacturing enhancements
Pratt & Whitney will expand both MRO and manufacturing activities in Singapore. At its Seletar facility, the company plans to add maintenance capability for the fan drive gear system used in its geared turbofan engine architecture. The new maintenance line is designed to incorporate advanced automation and artificial intelligence to improve efficiency and reduce service turnaround times.

In parallel, Pratt & Whitney will expand coating operations at its Tuas site to support global production requirements. The coatings are intended to improve the durability of hot-section engine components. As part of the project, the Tuas facility footprint will increase by approximately 25 percent, accompanied by the establishment of original-equipment-manufacturer-standard engineering capabilities.

Long-term industrial collaboration
The agreements reinforce a long-standing collaboration between RTX and Singapore aimed at developing advanced aerospace capabilities across the full lifecycle of commercial aircraft systems. By expanding localized MRO, manufacturing, and engineering expertise, the investment supports both near-term operational needs and longer-term technology development within the Asia Pacific aerospace sector.
