Expanding global cyber resilience through a strategic regional investment
Leonardo has inaugurated its new Regional Cyber Center in Kuala Lumpur, positioning Malaysia as a central node in Southeast Asia’s cybersecurity landscape. The launch reinforces Leonardo’s role as a global security leader and reflects growing international demand for coordinated, high-assurance cyber protection in an era defined by fast-evolving hybrid threats.
A strategic location empowering regional cyber autonomy
Malaysia was selected for its strong legal framework, advanced national cyber policies, and proven commitment to safeguarding critical infrastructure. By integrating Leonardo’s proprietary cybersecurity, physical security, and mission-critical communications technologies, the Center will strengthen the region’s digital resilience and support the sustainable development of vital national systems.
The Kuala Lumpur facility becomes part of Leonardo’s Global CyberSec Center network—headquartered in Chieti, Italy—and joins federated centers in Brussels, Bristol, and Riyadh. This global structure enables shared threat intelligence, standardised processes, and rapid response capability, while ensuring each country maintains full sovereignty over its critical data.
Strengthening partnerships and building long-term regional capability
The Center represents a long-term investment aimed at supporting Malaysia’s ambition to expand its cybersecurity ecosystem. Leonardo’s model combines operational excellence with workforce development, helping national organisations modernise essential digital assets such as national clouds and security operation centers. The federated approach ensures both local autonomy and access to Leonardo’s global platform for mission-critical cyber defence.
A milestone in Leonardo’s deepening presence in Southeast Asia
The new hub reinforces decades of Leonardo’s engagement in Malaysia, where the company has supplied helicopters, military aircraft, defence systems, radar technologies, and critical infrastructure security. By extending this presence into cybersecurity, Leonardo is strengthening Malaysia’s strategic position in Southeast Asia and laying the groundwork for future expansion across the broader Asia-Pacific region.
With this inauguration, Leonardo marks a significant step in building an interconnected, globally coordinated cyber defence architecture capable of responding to the next generation of digital threats.
